About

Our first venture into Standardbred ownership was in 2010. We had a modest budget and purchased a yearling filly. The idea was to race her and eventually have her as a broodmare. Unfortunately, due to an injury, we got into breeding sooner than we thought. That filly was Third Avenue whose first foal was Muscle Ave who has earned close to $300,000 to date.

I was not going to let this bad luck turn me off, so I bought another yearling filly the following year. That was Twilight Seelster who won numerous Ontario Sires Stakes races and close to $200,000 in her career. She changed my luck and I was hooked.

My interest in harness racing comes from my Grandfather who bred a mare to raise a colt from her to race. That was Big John Cash who raced in 1969 at Vernon Downs and won in 2:07.

We breed, feed and foal our mares. We have seven acres of hills and pasture and an additional 46 acres.

Scott Wray rattled out a hat trick in the final three races on the Wednesday (April 3) evening card at The Raceway at Western Fair District with his last victory in the $11,600 Preferred Trot. Wray scored in the feature by open lengths with Katie MacNeil student Johnny Buckshot. Johnny Buckshot got away third as Scene A Magician (Lorne House) designated himself as the pacesetter for the mile. After the opening panel in :28.2, Wray tipped Johnny Buckshot second over to the outside behind a parked-out Heavy Dude E (Ryan Desroche). The half clicked in :58.4 and Heavy Dude E began to stall on the outside, forcing Johnny Buckshot to a three-wide bid en route to the three-quarters in 1:28.4. By the final turn, Johnny Buckshot landed in second. He passed the leading Scene A Magician in the stretch and kept going to open up and win by 4-3/4 lengths in 1:58.1.
